I’ve updated my shop today

As you all know i have several online stores selling mannequins and displays in one store and another where i sell my paintings and things that people need to decorate their home.
So today i’ve been updating that last shop.
The store was in Flemish and i had added some English information on the articles but never made a good job of it.  So i started the day on that site and now, finally, the whole site is available in English.
I’ve updated the shippingcost to different countries and added Germany in that list.

So this webshop is all about nice things for you’re home decoration. It is about what the name says: decorsandlifestyle.be
I will be adding new articles in the future. I intend to make a special corner for vintage-articles and a juwelry-store and more. We will see where it will bring us.

I send my parcels using GLS or Bpost or DPD, depending where i need to send the parcel too.
I’ve made it easy now to order articles wich must be send to Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany, Luxemburg and Great Britain. The whole check-out system is now ready for these countries. But on request i will send all my articles trough Europe.

If you make nice original items that you think could fit into the shop, please contact me, i’m always looking out for original articles for the online store. My email: michael.grieve@telenet.be
Please take a minute and visit my online store:

Spotify

Last week i found a new tool to listen to music, or must i say that my son showed me how to use Spotify.
In my younger years i had my own discobar and played music on many occasions using Lenco turntables and vinyl disks. These where the years from Mud, The Sweet, Alvin Stardust and many others. I still have these disks in boxes in a corner of the house, and they still take a lot of space in the room.  In these years a dj needed to have all his music with him just to be able to play the music. Two turntabels, a recorder, mixing table, amplifier and more, about 4 meters of lenght was my discobar.
Today a computer and a amplifier will do the trick. Much easier now.

So now i learned how to use Spotify and i have all the music that i was used to play in one place. Just on internet.
Easy, just fill in what i’m looking for and there it is, and i can place my favorites in a list so i can find them when i want too.
So now i have millions of tracks to choose from, just in one click.
And the most important thing about Spotify is that it’s legal. I can listen to the music but i don’t need to download anything. But if i want to download an album or track, i can when i pay for it. Just listening to the music costs about 5 euro/month, and i think it’s well worth the money for someone who likes to listen to some music from time to time.

So if you are looking for a good provider for music, just try Spotify, like i did.

Hello from Belgium

It has been a long time since i wrote something on this blog. Seems to be so easy just to start a now blog but once you try to write something the inspiration has gone.

But i made a little video about the town where i live, Mechelen in Belgium.
Some pictures and a real flemish song, hope you will like it.

I made those pictures  walking trough the center of my town.

A new year and a new begining

So we all started this new year full of good intentions. We all would like it to be a good year, as well profesionally as private.
For all those people … i  hope your dreams will come true 😉

I think i’m just going to take it one day at a time.  No big plans …
Enjoy life as it is and make the best of it.

Oh yes, i have some plans …
Like the past years we would like to go on some citytrips around Europe. Not to far for me, i like to travel but i also like the travelling time not to be too long.
So going to Barcelona, Germany, England, France and taking a short trip around Scotland is in my wishlist.

I also intend to keep drinking my cappuccino 😉
I had my first cappuccino on a citytrip in Italy and now i drink at least one cappuccino every day.

It’s a nice drink to relax and enjoy te moment, before going back to work.
If i go out i will drink a real cappuccino but at home i use my Senseo to make something that should look like the real thing, but it is easier than having to buy a real coffeemaker.

And as for work i hope to have an even good year as 2011 …

Do you have some dreams for 2012?

My first newsletter

For many people this will not really earth-shattering news, and that it is not, but yesterday I made my first newsletter etalagepoppen.be. An initial newsletter and also a new beginning. It’s like going to school to learn new things, the result is great but it always can get better, and I hope in the future, that will happen.
A newsletter should bring something new and that’s not always easy.
What actions, which offers and especially what do I want to tell the readers. A lot of open questions …

My original idea was to have a letter / brochure to send to my customers, but this requires more planning than creating a newsletter, I may encounter. I was working on the design for a brochure when I came to the conclusion that this design could work as the base for a newsletter. E-mail also has the advantage that all items are clickable.

If you look at the ecological side, it is also interesting to e-mail instead of sending a flyer in the mail. Such as using plain paper, sending a postman on the road and all the driving that is needed to get the post to the wanted adres.
So I decided to use the electronic highway instead of the ordinary postman.

So I started looking for an email provider for the handling of the newsletter. After googling a while I made a choice and created an account on http://www.yourmailinglistprovider.com/nl/.

First choose a template and created a first newsletter. The folder that I made served as the theme for this newsletter to create.
Creating mailing lists I found the hardest part. My adresses had to be transferred from my adres book,  but after a while I  had 220 adresses in my list … a good start.
The advantage of such a provider is mainly the support and information that you receive after sending your newsletter. Statistics show how many people read your text and how many were regarded unsubscribe.
I’m not going to start daily newsletter sending, I have no time for that  I do not like to send to many mails to the people registered, but it is a useful tool to keep abreast of promotions and offers that I’m going to do . I also want use the newsletter for specific actions that give benefit to the readers of these newsletters.
Of course, the messages are related to my work, mannequins, display…

The egg

The egg …
Sounds like the beginning of a speech 😉

It took a long time before i decided to write this one but finally here it is  …

The idea for this blog came to me years ago by a report that I have seen on television.
A report on the pros and cons of eggs from battery hens uprights.

The whole discution of  that program was about the taste of the eggs.
Many people think that the taste of eggs from free running chickens  is much better than those of hens in a battery cage.  And that sounds right. Chickens in the wild also produce tastier eggs, so we think.

But what do we taste?

In that report there was a farmer who ate eggs every day,  his eggs came  from his own battery farm. When the farmer was asked whether he thought there was not a big difference in taste between his eggs from battery caged chickens and other chickens living in the open …  he gave the following answer.
Yes indeed, there is a big difference between the taste of these two kinds of eggs.
My chickens get only clean food as their droppings fall directly into a hopper.
The other eggs are produced by anything eating chickens who run in the fields and can eat all they can get but you know …  chickens are not clean animals after all …
So there is a difference in taste between the eggs …

This awnser made me think about the  taste of a good egg …
Which egg do you like best?
